PSS Progressive Safe System 2024 Complete Kit
£708.33 | £850.00 inc VAT
This kit requires calibration to work, a calibration tool can be included at an additional cost of £50+VAT. But the calibration tool can be used repeatedly meaning you only need one to fit multiple DVS kits. This calibration tool can be purchased separately.
What is DVS?
DVS stands for Direct Vision Standard and its a set of regulations originally introduced in March 2021 requiring all HGVs over 12 Tonnes in London to have additional safety features fitted in order to reduce pedestrian deaths. Well in now in 2024, its being ramped up. All previous DVS permits will become null and void and you need to add more safety equipment to the HGV in order to obtain the latest permit to avoid a hefty fine.
This Kit
This kit will take a HGV without DVS1 (no side camera/radar) and upgrade it to TFLs 2024 standards (DVS2). Included in each kit is instructions on how to fit them and a TFL Compliance Certificate. This kit includes the MOIS (Moving Off Information System) and the BSIS (Blind Spot Information System). The former detecting VRUs (Vulnerable Road Users) in front of the vehicle when moving slowly. The latter warning the driver of VRUs on their offside blindspot using radar technology.
MOIS Kit includes:
- Radar sensor for accurate detection of vulnerable road users in front of the vehicle.
- Display screen for clear visualization of potential hazards.
- Bracket for secure mounting of the components.
- Wiring harnesses for easy connection to the vehicle's electrical system.
- Screws and cable ties for a professional and secure installation.
BSIS Kit includes:
- Control box for managing the system's functions.
- Radar sensor for monitoring the blind spot area.
- Cabin warning indicator for alerting the driver of potential hazards.
- GPS module for accurate positioning and navigation.
- Wiring harnesses for connection to the vehicle's electrical system.
- Control switch for activating and deactivating the system.
- Screws and cable ties for a secure installation.
- Blind spot sticker for compliance with TfL regulations.
Side Camera Kit includes:
- High-definition side camera for enhanced visibility.
- 7" monitor for clear viewing of the camera's footage.
- Wiring harnesses for connection to the vehicle's electrical system.
- Brackets for secure mounting of the camera and monitor.
Left Turn Warning Speaker:

TFLs New Safety Requirements
London is leading the way in road safety with new regulations for Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) taking effect in 2024/25. The primary goal is to eliminate fatalities among vulnerable road users (VRUs). A key component of this initiative is the mandatory installation of Blind Spot Information Systems (BSIS) and Moving Off Information Systems (MOIS) in HGVs. This Kit contains everything you need to take a vehicle that has been DVS compliant up til now and upgrade to the new standards.
Addressing Blind Spots
HGVs present unique challenges due to their size and the resulting blind spots. The BSIS helps mitigate this risk by focusing on the left-hand side of the vehicle, where collisions with pedestrians, cyclists, and moped riders are most likely. This system accurately detects moving objects while ignoring stationary obstacles, providing drivers with essential warnings. The kit complies with UNECE Regulation 151, ensuring adherence to global safety standards.
Preventing Low-Speed Collisions
To further enhance safety, the MOIS assists drivers in avoiding collisions with pedestrians and cyclists when moving off or manoeuvring at low speeds. By detecting people and obstacles in the vehicle's immediate vicinity, the system provides timely visual and audible alerts. The MOIS meets the requirements of the Progressive Safe System (PSS), a London-wide initiative aimed at reducing collisions through advanced technology.
A Safer Future
By combining the BSIS and MOIS technologies, London is taking significant strides towards creating safer roads for all. These systems represent a crucial step in protecting vulnerable road users and reducing accidents involving HGVs.
